Alexis Birnbaum


Alexis Birnbaum is the Founder, President and Executive Director of Young Children’s Center For The Arts. Alexis is both a certified music teacher and music therapist. She also holds teaching certificates in elementary and special education.

Having graduated from Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1977, Alexis earned a B.S. degree in Education, as well as a B.A. in Music Performance (as a piano major.) She completed her Master of Creative Arts in Therapy degree from Hahnemann Medical College, with her thesis: “The Use Of Intensive, Individual Music Therapy To Stimulate The Development Of Language Acquisition Skills Of Blind, Multiply-Handicapped Children.” Prior to opening Young Children’s Center For The Arts, Alexis taught in the School District of Philadelphia. She is the founder of “Kreative Kids Music For Young Children,” which is an outreach music appreciation and music therapy program. Alexis is married and has four children.
